May 21
After much uncertainty about our future, here we are, barely two weeks after our regularly scheduled opening, with the club up and functioning, albeit under a new set of guidelines and protocols. From the darkest days of late March when we ran models of the club opening in June ,July, August or September to now, we are truly fortunate to be enjoying the Mad River experience today. With some very minor exceptions, the Club has been operating as planned thanks to the diligence of our exceptional staff led by Gary Ward.

COVID – 19 Update
Thank you for following our opening procedures and protocols so carefully, your diligence was extremely helpful to us through this uncertain opening weekend. We had a terrific opening day last week and while the rest of the weekend weather was spotty, we’ve had a beautiful week and the forecast this weekend is promising.
Similar to the Provincial governments phased-in opening, we plan to phase in the opening of other services and amenities over the summer. We expect Phase 2 to begin the last weekend of the month or June 1. Our plan will continue to be driven by safety first guidelines and a cautious approach.

Golf Course Update May 2020
The weather continues to be our biggest challenge early on in the 2020 season.  We certainly did not miss many golf days prior to opening, which is a good thing, but we have also had very little growth.  Daytime highs have been well below normal and nights have been particularly cold.  North facing areas as well as shaded areas continue to lag way behind schedule.

Not only has it been cold, but also very dry.  It seemed as though the only precipitation we received in the month of April was in the form of snow.  Hopefully warmer weather is now upon us and we can get the soil temperatures up for some much needed growth to occur.  We have been looking at last seasons divots for far too long at this point.

Under the new World System, each member will have seen a reduction in their course handicap.  This is primarilydue to the change in handicap calculations.  It is now the best 8 rounds out of 20 instead of 10.
