Ladies Captain's Report

Last week the Tuesday ladies played their 2nd ‘Play with the Pro’ round this season. Many thanks to Gary Ward who joined Stephanie, Carl, Colton, Shawn, Myles and Ryan to even out the distribution of professional players per team. It was another lovely weather day and enjoyable to see the professionals stripe the ball with superior distance making solid shots by hitting ball first contact with a square face and landing close to their intended targets! Gary came so very close to a hole in one on the 16th hole and Colton, Carl and Myles all had 5 birdies each.

Winning by 1 stroke was Pro Shawn and his teammates Tricia Kindree, Patti Teeter, Laura Neves and Sheila Kaarlela.

Placing second was Pro Carl and teammates Charlene Wildridge, Karen Franklin and Celeste Dunford. 

Placing third was Pro Myles and his teammates Hilarie Woods, Fran Painter and Susan Quigley.
Closest to the Pin winners were Steph Rumford on #14 and PA on #7. The longest putt was made by Laura Neves sinking it from 12’.

Men's Captain Report

The Mad & Noisy was contested over 27 holes last Thursday.  A full field enjoyed a great day of golf and fellowship.  Mother Nature smiled on us for just long enough to allow us to complete play.  Grayling Lamont and Angelo DeLorenzi booked their seats at the 2026 Dinner of Champions in October by defending their title from 2025.  Great playing guys.  I wonder if anyone will bet on these guys next year?
 
Our annual Club Championship weekend is upon us.  There is still time to register here www.golfgenius.com/ggid/lnljsc.  Chad, Rob and their team will have the course in outstanding condition, and you won’t want to miss that!  There are numerous flights to choose from designed to help the event appeal to everyone.  Hope to see you out this weekend.  It will no doubt be a great event!

That time of year again!
 
Good morning, all.

I cannot believe we are now at the second week of August! I hope everyone has had time to enjoy the season.
It is that time of year again, where our seasonal staff will be returning to their studies. With that said, it is time to also bill the yearly gratuity.

The gratuity is billed to members and associates each year. Those that are 19-39 years of age, will be billed $75.00 plus tax. Those that are 40 years +, will be billed $100.0 plus tax.

A Season of Gratitude

As we move into August, I've found myself reflecting on what an incredible season this has been. Together, we welcomed an almost entirely new team, introduced refreshed spaces, launched new menus and experiences, and watched those ideas come to life thanks to the dedication of our staff and the wonderful support of our members.

Now, the course is fully open, the clubhouse is bustling, and what were once quieter evenings have become some of our busiest. Seeing members stay after their round to enjoy dinner with friends and family has been incredibly rewarding. More than anything, it has created the warm, welcoming atmosphere we had hoped for.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our Surf & Turf Dinner. It was a wonderful evening at Mad River, and I hope everyone enjoyed the food, the lively atmosphere, and the music provided by Homemade Jam.
 
Events like this are about more than just dinner. They're an opportunity to gather around the table, enjoy some great food, listen to some music, and spend time with friends. The lobster, oysters, and other East Coast-inspired dishes certainly helped set the tone for a fun and memorable evening.
 
Why Do We Love Lobster?
There is something undeniably special about lobster. Even with its premium price, it remains one of the most sought-after seafoods in North America.
 
Part of the appeal is its flavour and texture, but there is also something wonderfully communal about eating lobster. It is not a food you simply rush through. It encourages you to slow down, get your hands involved, and enjoy the experience. A perfectly cooked lobster is sweet, delicate, and naturally rich, requiring surprisingly little seasoning. At least, that’s what I tell myself when I struggle when I’m feeling a little shellfish.
 
For those who would like to try preparing lobster at home, here's one of my favourite methods.

Saturday night at the Club was an outstanding sold out success!
From the most incredible seafood chowder and fresh oysters to lobster, steak and an amazing dessert. 
Kudos to Chef Stephen, Michelle, and the entire Food & Beverage team for creating such a wonderful dining experience.

Stu Hamilton reported playing golf with 16 year old Ben Hutchison this past week.  He drove the 6th green to 5 ft. & made the putt for eagle 2.
Probably the first one on the new green. Impressive!
 


The Legacy Girls Golf Team wrap up the 5 week program with some social time to close out the season.

A Friendly Reminder
Please apply sunscreen and insect repellent indoors or while standing on a hard surface such as a cart path. 
When these products are sprayed while standing on the course, the overspray can damage the turf on our fairways and greens.  As the photogrpah clearly shows, the impact can be significant.  
Thank you for helping us protect the course and keep Mad River looking its best.
