On June 1 and 2 the inaugural Medal Play Weekend was held.   Played from the green tees our reigning club champion Doug Painter won with a gross score of 73,  and Sharon Delorenzi won Low Net.  Peter Timmins was 2nd Low Net.
Originally planned as a Men’s Event, two women signed up and played exceptionally well. Kristy McLaughlin shot 77, beat her husband, and finished with 2nd Low Gross.

There are many misinterpretations about practice, including this one – the more balls you hit, the more you will improve.  While this may be true in the case of learning a new discipline, such as repeatedly hitting  twelve-yard chip shots to ingrain the feel, it is not representative of what we experience on a golf course.  In coaching golfers of all levels, I am fascinated that so many players spend so much time on the range with little improvement to their scores.  Part of the reason is that the driving range isn’t the golf course and the skills learned on a wide-open field aren’t transferable to a tree-lined second shot with bunkers in the distance and a large pond on the right.  That’s a stressful shot.

Birthday Wishes & Wedding Anniversary
John Newall celebrated his 80th birthday and Pam and John celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this past Saturday. Congratulations to you both!

Membership Achievement
After all the years and rounds of golf on May 30th Angelo Delorenzi finally broke par! He shot a 70 from the greens w 4 birdies and 2 bogies! Unfortunately he missed a 4 footer on the last hole for a 69. What made this round even more special is that it was our Anniversary! We were happy to have spent a great day on the links together with Dave and Loree Henry, who were there to witness this event!

Hole in One

Congratulations to Heather Johnston on her hole in one on #14 witnessed by guest Dean Elliott.
