Golf Course Aeration Update 2021

August 16, 17 and 18
Our second divot day of the 2021 season is ear marked for Wednesday August 18th, following aeration of our fairways.  Due to the aeration process, repaired divots get removed and we are left with a large number of un-filled divots.  It would be extremely helpful if our membership could lend a hand during this divot morning that will run from 8am untill 10am.

Aeration Plan
Our late summer aeration will occur on the 16th and 17th of August with a rain date of the 18th.  The front nine will be closed Monday, followed by the back nine on Tuesday, the first tee will be closed until 10am on Wednesday.  We will be aerifying both greens and fairways during this time.  Weather permitting, tees are scheduled for Wednesday morning.  We will not be pulling a core on greens this year, but rather we will be using a solid tine and filling holes with sand.  This along with our strategic fertility program will help to dilute our thatch accumulation and provide great putting surfaces moving forward.

Hello Everyone, Hard to believe we are into August already. Reminder to complete your Match Play games before August 24.

Gilda’s event is fast approaching. Hope all of you that have signed up have your “flapper attire” ready! It will be a fun day, best ball team effort, and in support of a great cause.

Interesting game this past Tuesday, “Fairways & Greens”. It causes you to focus on getting your drive to stay on the fairway. I find it amazing how you can still score decently well in a regular game without hitting the fairway. Just imagine how great your score could be if your ball stayed on the fairway en route to the hole!!

Starting Tuesday, August 17, if you prefer to play from the yellow tees let Myles know before you tee off, otherwise your handicap will be based off the red tees.

Have you ever hit a bad shot on the first hole that set the tone for the entire day?  Maybe you said to yourself something like, “I just doubled the first hole because of that tee shot! How am I ever going to have a good round now?!  My round is doomed because of that one poor shot.”  The odds are in your favour that from this point, that prediction will come true, if that’s what you believe.  Call it a Self-Fulfilling Prophecy.

If this has ever happened to you, please read the following:
