Opening Reception
Last Friday was a wonderful kick-off to start the season with about 100 in attendance. It was a terrific to see everyone enjoying the evening and socializing with friends. It was also a great opportunity to sample creations from our new Chef Stephen Sagar and many had an opportunity to meet him as he circulated the room throughout the evening.

Annual General Meeting – May 10th at 3:30 pm at the Club or via Zoom
With the business of finalizing and financing the projects completed last year, our AGM includes a review our 2024 results, election of directors to the board and confirming our auditors for the year.  For those attending via zoom, I’ve included the link below and I will send out an email reminder with the zoom link on Thursday.

Spring is an exciting time around the pro shop as shipments arrive daily. The membership has continued to support the pro shop year after year since I arrived. With your support, this translates to more selection. As a reminder, the pro shop provides preferred pricing for our members. Essentially, we are 10% less than retail (Golftown) on virtually everything we offer.

As much as members love to see the new apparel and accessories, as golfers, members really want to hear about the new equipment. This year, we will once again partner with the top brands in the industry including Titleist, Ping, Callaway and Taylormade. This is a BIG year for drivers with all four companies launching new products. Titleist’s GT driver continues to be the #1 driver in all of golf. There is a misconception that their product is only suitable for low handicap players. This could not be further from the truth. With four models offered (GT1, GT2, GT3 and GT4), they have a driver that works for every range of handicaps. To learn more about the new GT metals, click this link: Titleist GT Driver Video.

We are getting closer to the ‘All Member Opening Day’. Hope to see you on the 10th at 9:00am!

One event to note is the Cupp’s Cup. This year we are hosting Beacon Hall. It is usually played later in the season but due to our course renovation beginning in July, we have now scheduled the event for Monday, June 23rd. The format will be 4-ball Match play and a modified shotgun. Further details about time, sign up and 8-member team selection will be provided at the Ladies Opening on Tuesday, May 13th.

Gatorade Alternative, Trying Other Chardonnays and Mother’s Day Brunch

New this Season! - A Smarter, Healthy Hydration Choice

When it comes to sports drinks, BodyArmor and Gatorade both aim to fuel performance—but they take very different approaches. BodyArmor sets itself apart as a healthier option, made with coconut water, no artificial colors, and natural sweeteners like pure cane sugar or stevia in some varieties. It also offers more electrolytes and includes added vitamins like A, C, and E, catering to more health-conscious athletes.

In contrast, Gatorade contains artificial dyes, a higher sugar content, and often relies on corn syrup or sucralose for sweetness. While both drinks help with hydration, BodyArmor focuses on clean ingredients and overall wellness.  This makes BodyArmor a perfect fit for golfers of all ages—whether you’re grinding through 18 holes in the summer heat, walking the course for your health, or just looking for a smarter way to stay hydrated between swings. It’s clean, effective hydration that supports your game without weighing you down. Try one today!

Notes from the Chef Stephen Sagar

Happy Spring everyone. With the season finally arriving and green growing everywhere in the Georgian Bay area, the excitement for Spring is palpable and almost tangible. Throughout my culinary career, I have always promoted the business practice of supporting local businesses and purchasing produce from farmers all over southern Ontario. Produce like: asparagus from Holland’s Landing, potatoes from my hometown of Tiny, apples from Meaford, peaches from Niagara and garlic from Springwater. I will throughout the season, source Ontario products whenever possible and will make note to the front of house staff to inform Members & Guests of the specific dishes that are locally sourced.
