Our Club Championship winners were crowned last weekend. Congrats once again to our Men’s Champion Dean Henry and Ladies Champion Sharon Delorenzi. I spoke to many players around the first tee over the course of the two days of competition. It was apparent that some members were a lot more comfortable in this format of play than others. I had to remind those that were nervous that regardless of how they played, our F&B staff would still serve them a cold drink after their round.

What a wonderful week of competition!

It was a very close competition between Peter Greenhough and Dean Henry on day one of the Club Championships, but Dean was able to capture another victory by end of day two!  Winning must run in the Henry family with his father David Henry winning the 'B' Flight Low Gross.

Congratulations to all the Club Championship Winners!

How many times have you been working on a ten-yard shot from the fairway and feel you have it dialed, only to go out on the first hole, hit it long over the green, and leave yourself with a downhill lie with a clump of grass behind the ball.  To add to the stress, you also need to hit a high, soft shot to a back right flag.

The challenge with the short game on the golf course is that it’s highly uncommon to find yourself in a situation where you have a flat lie, on the fairway.  Much of the short game is played from tricky sidehill, uphill, and downhill lies.

While the remainder of the article may confuse some, I am going to address some of the key mechanics of this part of the game that are vital to scoring.

It’s hard to believe it’s already the end of August, sadly, at this time of year many of our serving staff leave us to go back to school.

September also brings shorter days which means, later start times and earlier closing times.

  • Starting on September 1st, the kitchen will be opening at 9 am and closing at 7 pm.
  • On September 15th kitchen closing will move to 6 pm.
  • These hours may change depending on weather, events and low attendance tee sheets.

The donations have been input and the final total is $14,050.  Thank you again Mad River!
