Our match play brackets will be posted later this week. If you have signed up for any of these competitions, now is the time to remind you of all the new stroke allocations on our scorecard. This is important to know, especially when playing a match and determining where the strokes will fall on the card. Before I explain why and how the allocations were determined, participants can still request that a scorecard be prepared by the pro shop at the time of booking. Our staff can “dot” the cards for you, however it is still the player’s responsibility to ensure that they are playing to the correct handicap and that the “dots” on the card are in the right spot. Once a match/hole has been played, unlike other formats, you are not able to go backward and alter the result.

Today is Tuesday May 30:
Game: Play with a Pro.  Record Gross scores only.
Rule: Yellow/Red Stakes – meet out by the flag.

***Special Note – Today is the second day of the National Golf League’s (NGL) challenge for our ladies’ league.  If you play on Tuesdays, you are automatically included in this challenge.  Today, your Stableford score on the back nine may count towards your overall score for the tournament, but remember that two nines (out of six) could potentially be eliminated at the end of the season.
The dates for the NGL are indicated by an *asterisk on the Tuesday Schedule.

Singles Match Play
Welcome ladies to this year’s single match play!  This season long event pits golfer against golfer in a hole by hole competition from the red tees, having regard for each player’s handicap which levels the playing field for all involved.  The tournament format is expected to be an elimination tournament where winners of the first round continue towards the Championship while second place competitors in round one move to the Consolation round.  From there on, the successful competitors continue in the competition until the Champion and Consolation winners are determined. Sign up is open now and will remain open until Thursday June 1.

Thank you to Catherine Sendell and Sheila Kaarlela for organizing this event!  Please click “read more” below for more information.

Men's Mad League

Last Wednesday was Week 2 for Mad Men’s League. 51 brave soldiers went to battle for their respective Teams. It was cold and windy to say the least. Congratulations to Sharp Dressed Men, The J Gang and Good Good for their wins this week. Congrats to Doug Painter, Michael Fitzhenry for being low gross in their respective flights. Congrats to John Leitch once again for low net in his flight. (BTW, the Handicap committee wishes to speak to you.)  Mike Fitzhenry and Ron Taylor were also low net in their flights. Well done gents.

Don’t forget to check the Golf Genius to see if you won any skins. You may have cash in the pro shop waiting for you.

Golf Genius Update

Our goal is to have as many members in MAD league have their own golf genius account. Mens MAD league members can access their golf genius account for live scoring, to view the weekly and cumulative leaderboards, and for updates and announcements pertaining to the league. Our captains and organizers of men’s MAD league hope to use golf genius to increase participation and engagement.

An email was sent out last week that enabled members to create an account, using their email, to access our league portal. This allows for seamless use of the golf genius app, without having to input a GGID for each individual event. All members need to do, is create an account and password for golf genius. Please see Myles or Ahren in the proshop if you require the sign up link to be re-sent and/or for assistance in creating your golf genius account.

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS

TAMMY & CHRIS MILLSAP

Tammy & Chris Millsap residents of Creemore along with their children Charlotte and Ivy are very excited to begin their golf journey at Mad River as a family.

While new to the game of golf, the Millsaps were encouraged by their existing Mad River friends to become members.  Golf instruction is already underway for the Chris and Tammy and the children are happily enrolled in junior camp this summer.

Avid skiers and Devil’s Glen Members the Millsap family plan to enjoy some leisure time now that the reconstruction of their Collingwood heritage hotel is complete.   Spending time with their long-time Mad River friends, and making new friends is a priority for these young entrepreneurs.

SIGNAGE NOTICE!

In the coming weeks you may notice a
"Private Driveway” and/or “Private Property”
sign posted on the stone entrance gate
and along the roadway.  These signs will
be visible yet discreet and in keeping with
the surroundings. The signage has become
necessary to discourage passersby from
using the front of the property as a place to
rest, picnic, and gather.

While Mad River is welcoming by nature,
there are liability issues that can occur if
someone unfamiliar with the property were
to become injured due to an errant golf ball
or by a car travelling along the roadway.

Naturally, our overriding concern is for the
safety of our members and staff who need to
know who is on the property at all times,
especially the staff who are closing
in the evenings.

We appreciate your understanding.
