What a great start to the season! While the start was delayed, we have come back to some wonderful conditions and as Covid restrictions are lessened, we will have some ability to sit with our Mad River friends and exchange “golf war stories” on the patio.

Mad River Divot Day
On Wednesday June 16 we are planning our first divot day of the season. We are encouraging all members who are interested in helping us with divots for the morning, to come out to the club from 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. During our maintenance morning we will be filling divots on our back nine fairways, we encourage everyone to come out if you can. Our plan is to meet in front of the back shop area and head out onto the golf course from there.
Please reach out if you are planning to attend at [email protected]. Hope to see you then.
Respectfully,
Chad Vibert
Golf Course Superintendent

The season is only a few weeks old, and it is exciting to see how far we have progressed in such a short time! We still have a long way to go however it is nice to see things trending in the direction of “normal”. This progression includes the return of weekly league games, match play competitions getting underway, and the reopening of our Golf Shop to in-person shopping.

PATIO
At 11:00 am tomorrow, the patio will be available for members to sit and enjoy the views while sipping their favourite beverage and trying some of our new menu options. You may want to try our new B.L.T. Panini or our Cold Asian “Zen” Bowl or keep it simple with a bowl of Sweet Potato Fries or our signature Cupp’s Burger. We will be featuring Bench Brewery and Lake of Bays Brewery this month and look forward to your feedback. Lunch Specials will commence on June 14th, Ladies Day Lunch on June 15th and Men’s Day Dinner on June 16th. Our first weekend barbeque will be Canada Day Long Weekend.

- No more than 4 people per table - please do not move chairs to other tables

Hello Everyone,
Hope you’ve all had a chance to get out and enjoy the course.

Congratulations to the prize winners of “best net ball per foursome”.
You won’t get rich, but hope you had fun.

Thank you everyone for a very good start to the season.
Pace of play was good for the most part. The Club's pace of play policy is 4 hours and 15 miniutes, however, we try to complete our rounds in 4 hrs or less. Even with a full tee sheet, we should not exceed the maximum of 4 hours and 15 minutes. Look ahead to the group in front of you when playing, not behind you. If you are 1 hole behind it’s time to speed up.

The Epitome of Leadership
On Monday, May 31st, 2021, we witnessed once again what the true meaning of great leadership truly is. The majority of Mad River’s membership comes from an esteemed group of successful business people that have spent numerous years building leadership qualities. Their experiences and many training opportunities have mentored/led many future productive people.
On this occasion at Mad, 5 staff members from our ground’s crew were on their knees on the 9th green, using forks to remove the invasive poana. Amongst the crew was our very own Superintendent Chad leading this group. This is just one example of the quality of leadership, pride and expertise that Chad brings to our club. It’s not a one off, because if you play in the early evenings, Chad can often be found on a fairway filling divots. Roll up your sleeves and lead by example, the old way. Refreshing!
Kudos to Chad and lucky for all of us to have such a great leader on our greens!

WELCOME THESE NEW MEMBERS!
Grant & Debbie Hume

Grant and Debbie recently purchase a home in Collingwood and are now able to settle into retirement. “We are very much looking forward to being members at Mad River and developing new friendships along the way”. Grant spent the last few years of his career working in the US and Caribbean in the telecom industry as an executive. Debbie spent most of her working career with RBC and later enjoyed volunteerin and participating in the school community where their 3 children attended. They enjoyed living in many areas of Western Canada before settling in the Toronto area 25 years ago and a final move to Collingwood. The Hume’s have 2 sons and a daughter: Travis, 32, lives in Calgary with his wife Jess; Ryan, 31, currently lives in the Toronto area, and Taylor, 24, recently moved to Calgary as well to start her life.
Colin & Christa Tyler

Colin and Christa moved nearby last summer after searching for the right place to relocate. Once that property was found the next step was to find a golf club to join. It only took one visit to Mad to realize it was the place for them! Colin works in Group Benefits & Retirement Plans and Christa is a Resource Teacher. They have two dogs, Brody and Archer, who much prefer their new home out of the city. While Christa is newer to the game, Colin is sure to become a familiar face on the course and at the range.
