Submitted by Gary Ward, General Manager & C.O.O.

In his recent Board Update email, David Seville introduced the Brand Taskforce that will review Mad River’s strategic position and brand.  As part of this work, a Member Brand Survey was recently emailed to all members and over 150 members have already completed the survey, thank you for your input. The survey will close on July 20th.

This is an important project that will help ensure our brand reflects the exceptional quality, character, and community spirit that makes Mad River so special, while strengthening our strategic position for the long term.

David Seville will continue to share details about the brand review process in his Board Update emails, and we will also include updates here in the Mad Post and in Member Central.

If you have questions about this initiative, please connect with any member of the Brand Taskforce:  Christopher Barnard (Chair), Chris Cook, Sandy Higgins (Membership Director), Brian Koturbash (Director), Laleah Macintosh (Director), Laura Neves, Carl Penfold (Head Professional), Tom Reeve, David Seville (Chair of the Board), David Woollcombe (Vice-Chair of the Board), and myself.

Project Update
Please continue to monitor daily updates on the Project Information Board on Member Central. I will also post regular videos on the website updating you on progress to date, these can be found on the member side of the site, under the Golf Course tile (Golf Course/Project Videos/Episode #. Typically, with these types of projects the most significant visual change occurs in the first few days, so I aim to post a few more videos at the outset to keep you appraised.

Our game last Tuesday was FT and only holes # 2,3,4,5,10,12,13,14,15 counted for 1 low net team score. The winning team was Fran Painter, Sally McLachlan and Lorraine Strain. Closest to the Pin winners were
Judy Adams and Deborah Ise. There was not a Longest Putt (farther than 5 feet) winner this week on the 18th hole.

Thursday afternoon the ladies headed out to play the Horserace/Shootout. We started on hole #5 which was a warmup hole, (alternate shot) with your partner before the elimination of the highest score on the next hole. Outlasting everyone was the team of Donna Cummings and Sheila Kaarlela. Congrats Ladies!

Friday and Saturday we had our 2-day Club Championship event. The ‘Fab 14’ (see photo) played in record setting scorching temperatures and biting insects abundant! There were 3 flights- Purple Stroke, Red Stroke and Stableford.

Thank you to everyone who signed up and played in our Club Championship! A massive congratulations, once again, to our Club Champion, Dean Henry! The longevity of his wins and against an ever changing competition is very impressive!

We'd also like to congratulate our other deserving winners: Kurt Phelan (Net Champion), Chris Barnard (A), Paul Wildridge (B), Chris Sloan (C), and Brian Koturbash. Each of these winners also maximized their Creemore Cup points haul, with a Flight Win worth a huge 24 points! The standings have been updated, and there's been a lot of movement after this weekend!

Your next, and only other, chance to earn double Creemore Cup points is at the Mad & Noisy on August 7. Be sure to sign up sooner rather than later to lock in your spot for this one-day, can't-miss event!

Notes from the Chef Stephen Sagar

There’s something quietly satisfying about making your own vinaigrette. It’s one of those kitchen rituals that feels both effortless and personal—like a small act of care you perform for yourself without fanfare.

My go-to formula is always the same at work or at home: 2 parts fat to 1 part acid. Nothing complicated. Most days, I reach for extra virgin olive oil—not just because it’s a pantry staple, but because of its health benefits. It’s rich in monounsaturated fats and antioxidants, and it’s gentle on my digestion. Plus, its warm, grassy flavour feels like the perfect backdrop for almost anything.
