I’m receiving outstanding feedback from members about Chef Stephen Sagar, our new Lead Associate Professional Jacob Altenburg and Assistant Professional Shawn Bodiam. Members are sending me notes about all three and the common theme, is friendly, helpful, professional, likable and talented. All three have also integrated seamlessly with the rest of the Mad River team and we are benefitting from their experience and expertise. Interestingly, all three are also loving it here at Mad River!

COUPLES TRIP TO PORTUGAL

Back in December, I had shared a Couples Trip to Portugal to depart this fall. After receiving feedback, the trip has been rescheduled for October 2026. Eight nights in Portugal playing the best courses this beautiful country has to offer including Comporta Dunas, West Cliffs and Oitavos Dunes and a stay in one of the great cities of the world - Lisbon! An amazing fall getaway at an amazing golf destination!

For a full breakdown of the trip, as well as cost, please click on the following link - Mad River Portugal Trip

This trip has been created with the help from TJ Rule at Golf Away Tours. Golf Away Tours is a boutique golf travel company based in Toronto, Canada that has been creating lifelong golf and travel memories for over 20 years. They are a proud partner of the PGA of Canada since 2018, helping golf professionals design and execute travel experiences not only for themselves, but for club members as well.

The World Golf Awards has awarded Golf Away Tours the "Best Outbound Golf Tour Operator for Canada" for 5 straight years (2019 - 2023) demonstrating not only the satisfaction of their clients, but also the strong relationships they have developed with suppliers, allowing them to deliver the best possible travel experiences.

This exclusive trip is limited to a small group of members to ensure a more personalized and intimate experience. We will be accepting 6 couples, or if there is a single member interested, 5 couples, 1 single, and a member from the professional staff.

We have finally started to experience some warmer temperatures, though we have had a much cooler than normal spring season.  This has put us behind schedule in our spring cultural practices.  We will be finally wrapping up our fairway topdressing and commencing our tee topdressing this week.  Some tees will be aerified through this process while others will just be top-dressed, we make these decisions based on the amount of organic material on each tee location, gold tees usually having the most thatch as they get the least amount of play.

Our Cupp’s Cup event is fast approaching. We will be hosting Beacon Hall on Monday, June 23rd. It’s a 4 ball Match Play event with 8 participants per team. Matches will be played from the red tees with a shotgun start at 11:00 AM. Each match will consist of 18 holes and Nassau scoring will be used for this event - 1 point for winning the front, 1 point for winning the back 9, and 1 point to the team who wins the most holes overall. Our team players are asked to wear a combo of navy and white clothing (navy top, white bottom or vice versa). If the event is oversubscribed, the proshop staff will help select the team. A combination of a lottery draw, participation points accumulated towards Captain Cup and handicaps comparable to the other team players will be used to select our team. Players will enjoy a boxed lunch and following the round, we’ll await the results with a drink and appetizers while enjoying the camaraderie of our new Beacon Hall friends.

Short Game Clinic Added for the Zen Golf Weekend!

I'm excited to share that we’ve added another special session to our Zen Golf Weekend with Dr. Joseph Parent, world-renowned performance coach and author of Zen Golf.
Join Dr. Parent and me for a 90-minute Short Game Clinic on Sunday, June 29th at 11:30am. Together, we'll blend Dr. Parent’s powerful teachings on mindfulness with my hands-on short game coaching—giving you practical tools to calm your mind and sharpen your skills around the green.

If touch, feel, or confidence in your short game has ever been a struggle, this clinic is designed for you. It’s a rare opportunity to learn directly from one of the game’s top mental coaches—right here at Mad River.

Spots are limited to FOUR PARTICIPANTS. I’d love for you to be part of this unique experience.

The Reason:

Andrew recently cut his wavy locks to donate to the Children's Cancer Wig Program.  The wigs provided to the children allow them the opportunity to look more like themselves which improves the childs self-esteem and confidence during a difficult time.
Kudos to you Andrew!
