Today is Tuesday June 20

Game: Mulligans (3/3)
Each player is allowed 3 Mulligans on the front nine and 3 Mulligans on the back nine. Please record your gross scores on the score card and/or on the Golf Genius app.
Rule:  Local rules to Mad River Golf Club
(Don’t forget your $5 for the Skins challenge!)
Nine Hole Group: Please call the pro shop in advance of your 11:00 tee time and meet us all for lunch after!

Next Tuesday June 27:

Game: Play your own ball (NGL day)
Clinic: Marking your ball on the green
(Don’t forget your $5 for the Skins challenge!)

Thursday mornings – Something new!

Our Thursday morning tee times have been underutilized for many reasons.  We want to encourage the use of our tee times, so Stephanie will be sending out weekly invitations through Golf Genius to join Thursday morning ‘casual’ golf.  There is no cost, there are no games, you just play golf and have fun. You can sign up with friends, or on your own.  If you miss the Golf genius deadline (Wednesday at 5:00), you can call the pro shop Wednesday night or Thursday morning to be added to a tee time.

Benefits of this change in booking tee times can include: knowing that there are others planning to play; knowing what tee times are open; having golf genius book your time for you; getting a notification if there’s a delay; having your clubs out of the back shop and ready to go on time; deciding at the last minute to play; etc.

Look for the Golf Genius invitation in your emails to sign up.

Men's Mad League

Last Wednesday was Week 5 for Mad Men’s League. Congratulations to The J Gang, Mad Men and once again we had a tie between Sharp Dressed Men and Fringe Golfers. I will reiterate last week’s comments in that once again its remarkable in that five scores count for each team. I will also reiterate that we need to get out and support our teams especially when playing the undefeated J Gang! ðŸ˜¡

Congrats to Kurt Wilson, Nigel Fairclough and Doug Goodall for being low gross in their respective flights.

Congrats to David Lailey, Grayling Lamont and Doug Goodall for low net honours in their flights.

Men’s Member/Member

Gents, this week is Member Member. Thanks to those teams that have signed up. We now have a full 24 team field.

The weather man is being optimistic for our event so let’s hope he’s right.

Gents, gentle reminder that the Member Member is a competitive event and we are throwing a few bucks on ourselves and our favourite teams. So please understand that it’s real golf and you have to play the ball where it lies. In match play your opponents can give you a putt, should they choose to do so.

Good luck to everyone!

Golf Course Update
Our spring Poa patrol is now almost complete, the poa over the past few weeks has been in seed and we must take advantage when its easy to identify and physically remove from our putting surfaces.  It has been a great spring season for poa, very cool to start the season for the most part, Poa starts to grow at much lower temperatures than does creeping bent grass. You may have noticed large groups of staff crawling across greens at times, this is an extremely tedious and time-consuming task, our staff do a fantastic job keeping our bent grass surfaces as clean as possible.  Areas where poa has been removed are filling in nicely with existing bentgrass.  We plan to sod some collar areas again this fall, to keep the poa as far away from the surfaces as possible.

Filtered Water Dispensers and Water Bottles

Did you know that we have 2 filtered water dispensers for you to fill up your water bottle? Most Members are aware of the one outside the front doors that also dispenses ice but do not know of the one located at our coffee station just inside the dining room. This dispenser supplies cold water, room temperature water and sparkling. If you would like ice, the servers are happy to get some for you.

If you happen to forget your refillable bottle, you can use the paper cups we provide at the dispenser or if you need a new bottle, the Pro Shop has Mad River branded ones in different colours and sizes.  In order to minimize our waste, we do encourage filling your own bottles and if you happen to run out before being back at the clubhouse, you can get bottled water at holes #6, #15.
