Project Update

Due to the wet conditions last week, very little work was completed, but with an improved forecast this week we expect a productive week.

Northgate Farms should wrap up the remaining sod work early in the week and Atkinson Irrigation will install pipe and sprinklers on #6 tee and fairway and connect to the greenside work they completed earlier this summer. The Atkinson team will continue with the system installation until the weather no longer permits them to work.

The project continues to track exceptionally well in terms of quality of work, budget and schedule. I’ll keep you updated on work progress and the financial results over the coming weeks with videos, emails, on member central and through the Mad Post.

Once the irrigation team can no longer work this fall, I’ll have clarity regarding the amount of work remaining and the potential time required to complete the irrigation installation next spring.

For the first time in my career, I can say that the club I work at closed before the end of the Blue Jays season. Yesterday was the perfect way to finish off our season…despite the 3-hour frost delay! It was nice to spend some time around the first tee on such a beautiful day, and chat with our members, mostly about their winter plans. My answer has not changed over the last few years. As a coach on both my boys hockey teams, I will be spending most of my time at the rink.

Spending five months in a rink was the least “exciting” winter plans I heard yesterday around the first tee. Listening about some of the trips our members plan to take over the off-season, mostly to warm destinations, sounded a lot more appealing than spending time in a cold rink. I already look forward to hearing about these trips when our members return in the spring!

What a Beautiful Closing Weekend, Thank You and Plans for 2026

As we wrap up another memorable season at Mad River, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the members continued support of our Food & Beverage team and department. As a golf focused club, not all come to enjoy a beverage after their round or come to dine unless there is an event or tournament so I wanted to extend an additional thank you to those   who do.

This season brought so many wonderful moments like the Ladies Member-Member construction theme to the intimate dinners in the sunroom to lively camaraderie out on the patio. Even with the course construction underway, it was incredible to see so many members still coming out to dine, connect, and enjoy the clubhouse together. Mother Nature blessing us with incredible golfing conditions was just the icing on the cake.

Just Copy and Tomato Paste

As the final week of the 2025 golf season arrives, I want to express sincere gratitude to all of our valued members for welcoming me into the club this year. It has been a pleasure serving you and sharing the passion for great food with such a wonderful community. A special thank you goes to Michelle for taking a chance on me and for the outstanding teamwork we have built together.

Last week’s Irish Lamb Stew with Guinness was a highlight of our fall soups/specials, and many of you kindly requested the recipe. Below is the full preparation so you can enjoy this hearty dish at home during the off-season. Sláinte!
