Project Update

The terrific stretch of weather last week allowed both contractors to hit their objectives for the week. Here’s a summary of how we stand as of today and what remains to be done;

  • Excavation team – 100% complete
  • Drainage team – 100% complete
  • BBB team – 84% complete – expect to be 100% complete October 10th
  • Sand Installation – 78% complete – expect to be 100% complete October 10th
  • Sod Installation – 59% complete – expect 73% complete October 10th

There is some rain in the forecast this week which may slow their progress, but it’s clear we’re rapidly approaching the end of the bunker portion of the project.

The irrigation team will be installing sprinklers on #4 all week and will remain on the front nine for the rest of the month. Once #4 is completed they’ll have 10 holes remaining to be irrigated. The plan is to continue working as long as possible and then they will return next spring. The irrigation installation is planned to be completed on June 30, 2026. I’ll provide updates against this target over the next couple of months and into the spring.

Weekday tee times will start off #10 for the next couple of weeks, this allows each team another couple of hours each morning without any interruption. With no work occurring on weekends, we’ll revert to starting off #1 for the remainder of the year.

I’ll provide an update on the project budget next week.

I’m often asked when #6, #12 and #17 will open for play in 2026. Unfortunately, it’s still too early to provide an accurate date, the weather next spring will have will have a huge impact on when they can open and sustain the traffic.

I will continue to keep you informed through a couple of videos over the closing weeks of the season. Daily updates will also be posted on the Project Information Board and weekly updates in the Mad Post.

Our Fall Series wrapped up last week, and tomorrow we have our final event of the season, The Fall Classic. The signature element of this event is the Super's Revenge pins, which will be set up in very unique and difficult positions. Playing to pins we would never normally see is a lot of fun, and we hope everyone who plays on Wednesday is able to enjoy this unique day on the greens.

Why You Slice the Golf Ball – 5 Common Causes

If your shots keep peeling off to the right (for right-handed golfers), you’re not alone. A slice is one of the most common misses in golf. The good news? It usually comes down to just a few key moves in your swing. Here are five simple causes of your slice:

1. Body Alignment
If your shoulders, hips, or feet point too far left of your target, your club will cut across the ball. That “across” motion creates spin that sends the ball off to the right and slicing.
Watch Here

2. Hand Depth
Shallow hands (too close to your head) make it tough to swing from the inside. Without enough depth, your club comes from outside the line, adding slice spin. The typical cause for this is point #3 below.
(Video to Come)

3. Under-Rotated Backswing
When you don’t turn your shoulders and hips fully, your swing path gets too steep. A shallow rotation often forces an “over the top” move, the number one cause of slicing.
(Video to Come)

4. Outward Hand Path
If your hands move out and away from you at the start of your downswing, the club follows. That outside-in path cuts across the ball and makes it curve right.

5. Over-Rotated Downswing
Too much hip and shoulder turn too soon can spin your body open, leaving the club behind. The result: the face stays open, and the ball slices.

Try Something New….like an International Beer

It’s hard to believe it is October 7th as last weekend felt more like summer than autumn. The patio was full of members and guests enjoying the temperatures with their favourite beverage. It was warm enough into the evening that many chose to dine outside even after the sun had fallen behind the trees. A rare opportunity this late in the season.

As the inviting weather continues, we invite you to linger a little longer on the patio or in the clubhouse with something new in hand. Alongside our ever-popular Creemore Springs, we are pleased to be serving a carefully chosen selection of imported beers:  Peroni Capri from Italy is crisp, light, and kissed with citrus, offering a burst of sunshine on a cool fall afternoon. Orion Lager from Japan is smooth and delicately balanced, with a clean, refreshing finish that makes it an ideal companion both on the patio and after your round. The iconic Czech Pilsner brings the golden, perfectly balanced character of the original style, complete with the subtle bitterness that defines classic refreshment. And finally, Stella Artois from Belgium remains timeless and elegant, consistently satisfying and pairing as beautifully with conversation as it does with a meal. Ready to be enjoyed in the bottle or poured into a chilled glass for the fullest experience.

A Taste of Tradition: Liver & Onions

There was one item on the menu I was excited to bring to the 2025 season: Liver & Onions. It’s a simple classic and yet the popularity still holds. There’s something timeless about Liver & Onions—a dish many of us grew up with at the family table; myself included. It’s hearty, comforting, and packed with goodness that has stood the test of time.
