“No Sweat Hardest Hole in Ontario”
The PGA of Canada have introduced a contest across the country to determine the “No Sweat Hardest Hole” in each province. They have narrowed the list to the top 16 hardest holes in Ontario and not surprisingly #17 at Mad River is on that list.

They are still finalizing the process to narrow the list further, but I suspect this will involve some social media component. We will keep you abreast of the process over the summer.

As we approach the midway point in our season, the tee sheets have continued to be very active, especially on weekends. Despite the increase in activity, our members have experienced few, if any issues getting a tee time. Naturally there have been some days that have closely resembled the past with lots of available tee times. It was during one of these quieter days that a member asked me a question about the proper etiquette when playing through a group. Therefore, here are my thoughts about when it is acceptable to play through a group and how to proceed in these situations.

Please refer to the picture story above for the proper technique to repair ball marks.  Never pry “up” in the centre of the mark always “push” toward the centre.

Recommended Reading to Improve Your Game

If any of you know me, you know that I have a thirst for knowledge.  In my library I have an abundance of books related to the game of golf, sport psychology, and self-improvement, each of which are invaluable for the game of golf.

New Menu Items and Expanded Patio Causes Members to Stay for Dinner
Can you believe that the patio has been open for a month? Thank you to all the members who have come out to have a pint and to enjoy an appetizer. With the expanded patio and menu, we have seen a significant increase in members staying for or coming in for dinner which is a welcomed change from years past. Due to this amazing shift, we are in the process of growing our team and would like to thank you in advance for your patience as we look to fill this position. When possible, please make reservations at 705-428-3673 ext. 6, email at [email protected] or let one of the staff know.
