I would like to share a little story.  I am not trying to name drop here, but three years ago, I had the opportunity to play a round of golf with Rudy Duran.  Rudy ran an extraordinarily successful Junior Program in Los Angeles dating back to the 1970s.  One day, a man came in with his 4-year-old son and stated that he had heard great things about Rudy, and he would like for him to coach his son.  Rudy told the man that he had never worked with a 4-year-old before and asked if he could see him hit a few shots.  The three went out back to the practice area where Rudy set up 5 balls on tees and asked the boy to hit the five balls.  The little boy striped all five shots with impressive power and accuracy, after which Rudy said, “Yes, I will work with Tiger.”

Shawn & Karen Murphy

Shawn, Karen and their daughter Fallon have been coming to Blue Mountains on weekends and vacations for the last 10 years. Finally in 2019, they decided to move from their home in Toronto to Blue Mountains on a full-time basis. It was the perfect move for them especially for Fallon who is an accomplished Alpine racer in the winter and an Equestrian for the remainder of the year. Since their move, Shawn is semi-retired after a career in Sales and Marketing in both the Finance and Software Industries. Karen has held various roles as a HR executive and  just started a new role overseeing the Human Resources function at Osler Bluff Ski Club. Fallon is currently in grade 7 at Beaver Valley Community School. The Murphy’s are excited to be part of The Mad River golf community.

Rob & Ruth Keilty

Rob’s family has been in the Mulmur area since 1970 when his parents joined Mansfield Ski Club and built a chalet at the base of the hill.  Ruth and Rob bought a farm near Mansfield 15 years ago and have spent the past few years building their country home.  Rob is the CEO of insurance broker Hub Ontario, he has spent 35 years with Hub and it’s predecessor companies and Ruth is a homemaker and community volunteer.  The Keilty’s have 2 children, Jack (28) who lives and works in London, UK and Sloane (24) who lives and works in Toronto.  The entire family is very excited to join Mad River and to extend their summer activities in the country to include more golf.
