Submitted by Gary Ward

Covid Update
The Covid task force met earlier this week and made the following recommendations which the board approved for implementation.
  • Weekend Guests - permit up to 1 guest per member at any time on weekends (bookings through a ballot submission or on tee sheet after times are posted)
  • Eliminate limitation of arriving within 30 minutes of tee time
  • Eliminate the need to book practice time
  • Re-introduce benches on course
  • Re-introduce the shuttle cart on #6
  • Re-introduce the use of the handicap computer, it will be located outside golf shop.
  • Re-introduce the use of self-serve coffee and tea station.
  • Beginning on July 5th expanding weekday walk-ons to one time per hour Monday-Thursday starting at 10 am, excluding during league play or on holidays.

A touch free sanitizer will be available in the shuttle cart, beside the handicap computer and coffee stations for use.
For members with contact concerns, they can comfortably refrain from using the benches, cart, handicap computer without impacting their golf experience or in the case of coffee or tea, have the staff prepare it.

Mad Post – June 24th

Over the last couple of weeks, we have used a back nine start quite frequently. This has helped balance the amount of play on the front and back. As well it has helped Chad and his team complete the construction of the yellow tee blocks. I am sure most of you are thinking that these tees are not designed for you. However, in recent years, there have been more and more studies supporting golfers moving up a block, or two, to increase enjoyment and play from a yardage more suitable to their skill level based on how far they hit the ball.

Thank you to all the members for their patience as we waited for the water to be tested. We are happy to say that the water tests came back clear and we were able to open the kitchen and provide full bar service as of Tuesday June 22nd. Our impromptu barbecue was a success and everyone seemed pleased that it was up and running. Our next weekend barbeque will be Canada Day Long Weekend. We will be offering burgers, hot dogs, sausages, and ribs along with some side salads and ice cream. The barbeque will run from 11:00-5:00 and will continue the whole weekend (weather permitting).

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK
HOLE IN ONE - June 22

SHEILA KAARLELA - Hole #3

This was Sheila's third hole in one at MAD, she now has and ace on #3, #11 and #16. look out #7 & #14!

She was in a 4 ball match with partner Fran Painter, versus Cathy Hobart and PA Irwin-Allen.
She hit a beautiful wedge into the wind....right at the flag, landed on the front of the green and rolled right in.

Needless to say, they won that hole!

And she just had an awesome golf lesson....her coach will be thrilled to hear about this!
